Deacons
Monday, June 21st, 2010Deacons were part of the organization of churches of Christ established by the apostles (Phil 1:1). They are to have certain qualities defined by the Holy Spirit (1 Tim 3:8-13), and with those qualities they have a vital work to perform. Deacons are models of servanthood for a community of servants. They are men we can imitate because they imitate the perfect Servant (Jesus Christ) Who told us that the highest calling in the kingdom of God is to serve others (Matt 20:26-28; 23:11; Mark 9:35).
