Principles of Church Growth

The growth of the first century church was spectacular (Acts 2:41, 47; 4:4; 5:14; 6:1, 7). What brought about this tremendous growth? You might say that the circumstances were just right, and God knew that because He was fostering those circumstances. But just as important as that were the attitudes of those new children of God (Acts 9:31). And when you put the best circumstances together with the best attitudes then you have a winning combination that will succeed.

Things Thomas Missed

Sporadic attendance to church assemblies is a common problem among many Christians. We can take at least two approaches to the problem. We can either remind those who are negligent of God’s warnings regarding forsaking the assembly, or we can show them the benifits they miss by not being present. What did Thomas miss when Jesus appeared to the disciples after His resurrection? We don’t know the reasons, but we do know Thomas missed some valuable things.

The First Day Of The Week

More and more people think of Sunday as being no different from any other day of the week. New Christians often have to make major changes in their weekend habits to be with the saints. But even those of us who have been Christians for a long time need to reconsider what we are doing on the first day of the week. It may be we are neglecting to make that day the special day it ought to be to us.
