Depression: Causes, Solutions

More than likely we have all had periods of depression. Some of us are better at masking it than others. Regardless of how depression affects us, it can become a wall between us and our Father in Heaven. What must we do to overcome our bouts with depression?

How Great Is God!

In this chapter God, through the prophet Isaiah, described the greatness of His power to meet the challenges that lay ahead for the Israelites after their captivity. It is an enouraging lesson for Christians today, as we strive to carry out our Lord’s Great Commission (Matt 28:18-20).

“Perpetual Backsliding” (Jer 8:5)

People have been departing (backsliding) from God since the beginning of time. The Old Testament prophets like Jeremiah were called by God to be His voice in calling Israel back to Him. The reason for their backsliding is stated in the verses that follow Jeremiah 8:5. Learning from this case will help us avoid the dire consequences of departing from God.

“Rend Your Heart, Not Your Garments”

The message of God’s Word to this world is a call for our repentance (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18). That message will not change until the Lord Jesus returns in judgment. Your baptism into Christ didn’t change that message, for there IS a constant need for your repentance. No matter how “rewarding” life is, we will not see God apart from our repentance.
