The Properties Of Love

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

As divine and important as love is, we sometimes feel and act as though our love for others is wearing thin. The church in Corinth faced that problem. They had divine gifts and superb teachers, and yet Paul dealt with several problems that indicated their love for one another was wearing thin. And then, like a beautiful flower that blooms in the desert, Paul described the love of God. Paul showed us that when love is wearing thin the solution is to speak of God’s love more often and more emphatically. Follow along in this series of lessons from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Paul and Silas “Singing in the Pain”

Monday, January 11th, 2010

It is easier to rejoice when everything is going well. There are few Christians who will “sing in the pain”, but we’re going to remember two who did (Acts 16).

The Fine Art Of Forgiveness

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

In Matthew 18 Jesus revealed the startling truth that we are to act toward others as God has acted toward us. If we refuse, we will lose the compassion and forgiveness of God, which we so desperately need each day.

Servant, Servants, Service

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

This series of lessons will delve deeply into the meaning of servitude, i.e., what it means to be a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. A Christian has been called to be like his Master (Matt 10:24-25) and his Master was a Servant (Matt 20:24-28). Through these studies we will be able to adjust our concept of servant with the actual Biblical meaning of the term.

When Christians Disagree

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Some disagreement among Christians is inevitable. Because, as is a family, each one is at different levels of maturity and understanding. In Romans chapters 14 and 15 Paul explains how Christians may differ over application of truth and yet remain unified in Christ.

Followers Of God (Eph 5:1-2)

Monday, October 8th, 2007

In the Ephesians letter, Paul described the character of a Christian. His description begins in verse 17 of chapter 4 & continues through the end of the letter. The key verses are found in (4:20-21), which indicate that Paul was describing the character of Christ, & thus the character that Christ demands of us. Paul began chapter 5 with seven statements (admonitions) that will aid us in building the character Paul described.

Restoring The Erring Child Of God (Galatians 6:1-5)

Monday, September 24th, 2007

When Christians are not behaving as they should it is sometimes difficult to remember they are our “brethren.” Oftentimes our first response is to give up on them as hopeless cases. But by thinking in that way we can be just as wrong as they are in their misdeed.
